Iron and Wine Saint Paul Concert reviews
Cats at Chysler Hall
The experience overall was very good, especially since I had seen this performance before in other A L Webber productions. Iron and Wine did an excellent job of putting these together for a musical, but those unaccustomed to his style may have come away disappointed. Overhearing some of the other patrons, they were confused as to what was going on, which is to be expected since the play is based on a collection of poems from T S Eliot written 70 years ago. As with any performance one goes to who have heard "rave reviews", they need to research a little to actually see if it is something they will like to see and enjoy, especially with A L W's particular style.
So much rain so much fun
The experience was very disappointing. I had infield tickets for general admission and was delighted by everyone being wonderfully nice. I was disappointed at the number of tents, which impeded the ability to see the race itself. I was very disappointed with the lack of Staff wandering around picking up after people as they went, it almost seemed like they were just going to wait and clean up when they were all done. By the end of the day, beer bottles and cigars lined up along the ledges by the betting booths in the paddock, and aside from rain and muck, it just gave the general impression of yuck. The facility was lovely, the lines were not nearly as bad as I thought they were going to be, and there were even enough bathrooms. There was lots of excitement with the disqualification, but that's what gambling is about. It wasn't that it rained, it actually made the experience kind of fun and bonding with everybody, I just didn't feel like they had enough maintenance staff on hand to try and keep up with some of the mess.
